About Kevin Lui

I graduated in May 2011 at Michigan State University with a major in Supply Chain Management and a specialization in International Specialization. During the summer of 2010, I worked with Continental Automotive Systems as a purchasing intern in the Hydraulic Brake Systems purchasing department where I gained valuable experience in the purchasing profession. I continued my purchasing career after graduation with Continental Automotive Systems in the Electronic Brake Systems (EBS) purchasing department. I started my purchasing career as an Associate Buyer with responsibilities to source the rubber, plastic, and bearing components for the NAFTA region. In February 2014, I was promoted to the Buyer position within the Vehicle Dynamics business unit. My responsibilities from EBS still applied, however there was now an added responsibility of sourcing turned part components. I decided to challenge myself and further my education by pursuing the Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) certification with APICS in April 2015. I was able to pass the exam on my first attempt in November 2015. I left Continental Automotive Systems in August 2016 to continue my purchasing career at Toyota Motor North America. The first commodity I was responsible for at Toyota was anti vibration rubber. After 2.5 years, I earned the opportunity to rotate to a more challenging commodity which included the propeller shaft, rear axle, and transfer case. The experiences gained at Continental Automotive Systems and Toyota have helped me develop into a purchasing professional. I learned about the automotive industry, managing suppliers, the importance of timing, risk management, effective negotiating, and working with colleagues around the world. Moving towards the future, I will continue to work hard to improve myself professionally and personally. Thank you.*In January 2020, I decided to resign from my position at Toyota to go on a year-long adventure that would further my personal growth. I moved to Sydney, Australia in early March 2020 on a working holiday visa with the intention of staying for 1 year. I was unfortunately only able to stay for 2 weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic and have since moved back to Michigan.
