About Kevin Ong

I am a driven full-stack software engineer with an interest in developing innovative and creative solutions to complex issues and leaving a significant impact in the tech space. The idea of learning new things and possibilities limited only by my own imagination are the defining points of the software engineering field that have led me to become so enamored with development. With my experience in Python, JavaScript, SQL, React, Redux, HTML5, and CSS3, I have solidified my understanding of backend and frontend development and am interested in using my skill set to contribute to a team of strong-minded individuals. Because of my time at App Academy, I pride myself in having a strong willingness and capacity to learn in an extraordinarily short amount of time. Currently, I am working on my main passion project, Metam, a project management site hosted on Render that is based off Asana. On Metam, logged in users can create projects, custom sections, and individual tasks within those sections to stay organized and on track. Projects also have associated teams that can be edited by the project owner. With the addition of react-beautiful-dnd, sections and tasks are also draggable, which allows for easy reorganization of projects. Future feature implementation includes task assignments, project audit logs, and user profiles. It currently employs a Flask backend framework for easy scalability for future feature implementation and utilizes a React.js library and Redux for an elegant and intuitive user interface. In my free time, I prefer to do anything where I can be outdoors or active. The activities that I tend to gravitate towards the most are basketball, backpacking, and camping. In addition to physical activities, I enjoy escape rooms, board games, and spending time with my family and friends.
