About Kevin Ramey

For last 28 years I have worked as a GIS Technician/analyst/cartographer for City of Portland, Bureau of Environmental Services (BES). I have developed an advanced understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). As a lead GIS Technician for BES, I have enjoyed the opportunity to manage and maintain large- and small-scale mapping projects and control most of the workload for our mapping team. This work has included controlling project timelines, standards, workflow, staff assignments and maintaining huge and valuable projects specific datasets. I have successfully implemented and managed GIS practices and principles Bureau wide including instructing multiple level I and level II GIS training courses and providing primary support for the Bureaus standard desktop GIS platform ESRI. This position has also required me to work daily in and with Autodesk civil 3D, Autodesk Revit, and other CAD programs to access and acquire and generate drawings and data. Recently I have stood up a BIM team leading 10 3D modelers in generating a digital twin of our 8-billion-dollar wastewater treatment plant. Generally, much of the data I work with originated in one of these CAD systems. It has been my responsibility to import and integrate this data into our GIS system maintaining the correct geo-spatial positioning and controlling object attributes and line work standards. Prior to my employment with the City of Portland, I had accumulated five consecutive years professional CAD drafting experience. During this duration, I successfully completed large scale drafting plan sets including projects contracted to us by the City of Portland.
