I am president of The Executive Writer, a veteran-owned small business that specializes in teaching effective plain writing. That’s all we do. It’s our passion. And we do it extremely well. I have been a writing instructor and freelance writer for more than 25 years, and have taught successful plain writing techniques to employees from American Express, Amgen, General Electric, Fluor, Proctor & Gamble, SEAL Team Six, the State of Utah, United Way, the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and other government agencies and corporations. I am also the author of the business-writing book,"Write Up the Corporate Ladder"(AMACOM Books), and my articles have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, PC Magazine, The Iowa Review, Business Communication Quarterly, and in other national publications. I am a former co-editor of Quarterly West magazine, and I have taught writing for more than eight years at the University of Utah, California State University at Northridge, and Santa Monica College.
