About Kevin Stitt

Kevin Stitt is a fourth-generation Oklahoman, founder of Gateway First Bank, and the 28th governor of Oklahoma. He was first elected in 2018 as a political outsider, with a mission to bring business expertise to government and elevate Oklahoma to a “Top Ten” state. Upon taking office, Governor Stitt faced a state with a recent history of billion-dollar deficits. He reformed the executive branch and overhauled agency budgets, resulting in the largest state savings account of nearly $5 billion and enabling roughly half a billion in tax cuts. Under his leadership, Oklahoma made record investments in public education, raised teacher pay, and expanded school choice. Additionally, Stitt pursued reforms that safely reduced the State’s prison population by 25%, closed 4 State prisons, and improved pay and resources for law enforcement officers. Before entering politics, Stitt founded Gateway Mortgage Group, starting with just and a computer. He grew it into a nationwide mortgage company operating in 42 states and servicing more than $20 billion in residential mortgages. In 2018, Stitt guided Gateway through a merger, creating Gateway First bank, which is now one of Oklahoma’s 10 largest banks by assets. Stitt is a proud husband to Sarah and together they have six children.
