About Kevin Yulo

My interests in building parts of a machine using components lead be back to programming in 2021. I decided to try coding again after 6 years as an Assistant English Teacher and enrolled into Lighthouse Lab's Full-Stack Web Development 12 week bootcamp. My preferred tech stack after graduating is the PERN (PostgreSQL, Express, React, Node) stack. My final project, Guessit, was built on this stack. During the bootcamp, I was active in helping my peers with the basics of javascript: functions, objects, conditionals, arrays and loops (FOCAL). Every day of the bootcamp, from 9am to 1am, I spent about 7 hours working on my code and another 5 hours helping others with debugging, refactoring, and understanding code. By helping others, it helped me solidify my understanding of the day's topic as well as the best way to explain multiple solutions. My interests in education and games lead me to create a word game for my final project. It was based off the popular game, Wordle. This two-person project cloned the original game and added some features to it. We implemented a database where the user can load previous games and add friends.
