Background
About Keymiah Armstrong
Over the course of my life, I have realized that there will be numerous obstacles that will stand in the way of my success, but it is very important to stay motivated. Ultimately, one of the hardest things to do in life is to continue and keep going. There will be strenuous moments where one may feel they have nothing left to give, but that is not the case. At a young age, I had great desire to pursue a career in the medical field, but my father and my first year of college influenced my decision. For many years, my father has been working alongside his employees to design, build, and develop one of the most cutting edge secure home networking systems. Recently, he and his colleagues have teamed up to create a security system from home that handles classified and unclassified information. Conversing with my father about this new implementation was intriguing and caused me to have a change in heart regarding my major. During my first semester, I developed a passion for computers and the complexity and intricacy of software and data. My first year at North Carolina A&T State University was quite challenging at times, but I managed. I learned how to multitask with my rigorous academic schedule and strenuous morning practices for cheerleading, while also developing skills for ayurvedic health and hair regimens. As a freshman, I decided to join the cheerleading team, and little did I know that the bond I created with these young ladies would be everlasting. The energy among us was so vibrant, positive, and compassionate. As a cheerleader at North Carolina A&T, my schedule can become hectic and overwhelming at times due to the high demand of energy and determination required to be a student athlete. I engaged in a total of 7 classes during my second semester of school, which is equivalent to a total of 18 credit hours. Although my required courses for my IT major could be arduous and difficult at times, I enjoyed working with my peers and teachers to ensure my understanding of the class. Finding a balance between academics and athletics is essential to mental and physical health.
