About Khadijah A. Mitchell

Dr. Khadijah A. Mitchell is currently an Assistant Professor in the Cancer Prevention and Control Program at the Fox Chase Cancer Center-Temple Health. Her research addresses biological, environmental, and behavioral determinants of lung and kidney cancer health disparities for precision prevention and precision medicine purposes. Dr. Mitchell and her lab team champion the inclusion of racial and ethnic minorities in cancer research.Previously, Dr. Mitchell was a National Cancer Institute Postdoctoral Fellow and National Human Genome Research Institute Technical Intramural Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health. She earned her PhD in Human Genetics and Molecular Biology from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine; and concurrently earned graduate certificates in Health Disparities and Health Inequality from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Teaching from the Johns Hopkins University Teaching Academy. Through various scientific and public health leadership roles, Dr. Mitchell has set, implemented, and promoted strategic plans and advocated for policies that intentionally support the inclusion of underrepresented communities, scientists, and researchers. Dr. Mitchell is the recipient of many honors and awards at the faculty, postdoctoral, and graduate levels for her research, teaching, and service leadership; and uses her expertise to promote both health equity and higher education equity.
