About Khalid Khattak
I have been in the profession of journalism since 2005. Lately, I got involved in data journalism and loving spreadsheet. In 2015, I founded Pakistan's first independent data journalism specific initiative-Data Stories. The idea is to promote data literacy in general and data storytelling in particular as I believe data is evidence and if used effectively in stories, data can lead to a more informed debate. Formerly a paid-blogger at the Asian Correspondent, I have written articles for various online magazines including Norway’s first multicultural web magazine Blendmag (formerly known as X-plosiv), online magazine of the European Journalism Centre (EJC) and UK's Index on Censorship. Many of my articles have been published in The News on Sunday (TNS), weekly magazine of The News International. Besides a 2011 U.S-Pakistan Journalism Exchange Fellow and 2013 Daniel Pearl Fellow, I have successfully completed a month-long online course "Freedom of Expression in the Digital Age" from the International Center for Journalist (ICFJ) and another online course "Conflict Analysis" from the United States Institute of Peace (USIP).
