About Khorbin Kern

I earned my Master's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Quinnipiac University in 2023. I am interested in many fields of biological research with some emphasis on microbiology. I am a lifelong learner and naturally curious which makes me an excellent researcher. These traits allow me to ask questions and become passionate about the work and experimentation I take part in. During my time as an undergraduate and graduate at Quinnipiac, I worked on research regarding native pollinators which included experiments I designed on the color preference of pollinators as well as attempting to characterize the microbiome of pollen to see the differences between wild plants and those raised in nurseries. I explored the field of teaching as well. After working with high school students as a mentor through QUADS (Quinnipiac University Advancing Diversity in Science), I was interested in the possibility of going into teaching and so I became a substitute at Notre Dame of West Haven to get a better idea of what teaching might entail. I then found work as a teacher with emergency certification at the Lincoln Middle School in Meriden, CT. I fell in love with teaching and found that I wanted to continue, and so I did exactly that at Orville H. Platt High School also in Meriden, and this is the position I currently hold.
