About Ki Alex Cheung

Hello, my name is Alex. I am a fresh graduate from the Bachelor of Arts in English (Language and Literature) program at the City University of Hong Kong. I am currently studying a full-time Masters of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at the Education University of Hong Kong. I am aspired to become an English teacher in the future. As a multilingual student who grew up in Hong Kong and Singapore, the experiences of living in environments surrounded by people from different nationalities caused me to acquire verbal and written communication skills in Chinese (Mandarin/Putonghua), Chinese (Cantonese), and English since childhood. Being taught in different places has offered me different experiences studying English as an L2 learner; my experiences inspired me to have a strong passion for learning languages and cultures, and this eventually motivated me to study English in university. As I aim to pursue a teaching career in the future, I plan to pursue a PGDE program after my Master's degree. In the meantime, I am working part-time as a Research Assistant at HKUSPACE's Parent Education Talks Team, organizing talks for NCS parents; and teaching part-time as a Student Tutor at a local school in Hong Kong.
