About Kia Carter

Kia Carter is a video producer for the Creative Media team at RUSH University Medical Center, helping create and put together video content for the RUSH University System for Health, including RUSH University. Her storytelling career began in 1st grade with her show-and-tell. Instead of the more traditional, “I like this because…” speech, her show-and-tell involved research on her chosen item and a story about its history and origins. If she brought her Barbie for show-and-tell, she gave an informative speech on how Barbie was created and facts on sales. By the end of the year her show-and-tell success in the classroom had her giving her show-and-tell about popcorn to her entire elementary school. She was bit by the storytelling bug and decided to pursue a career telling stories. Kia graduated with a Bachelors in Broadcast Journalism after attending Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. For five years she worked in broadcast television news as an Anchor and Reporter in Topeka and the Quad Cities. A former one-man-band reporter, she has deep roots in researching, producing, filming, writing and editing stories. Kia broadened her storytelling perspective after returning to get a Masters in Integrated Marketing Communications at Northwestern University. Her career in front of and behind the camera gives her a uniquely tailored skill set to help grow connections and relationships with video. She loves to develop marketing videos that shine a spotlight on the great brand stories at RUSH.
