About Kian Tailor

I am a University of Bristol Mechanical Engineer Graduate with a track record of academic excellence and a robust foundation in design, analysis and problem solving. I possess strong technical skills, demonstrated through the effective use of MATLAB, Autodesk Fusion 360, Abaqus, Star-CCM+ and LaTex to deliver finite element analysis, 3D modelling and product development. I showcase strong leadership acumen, having developed, and presented business proposals for leading UK organisations whilst completing the National Citizens Service Programme. I embrace teamwork and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, having participated in a range of projects, including ‘Engineering for People’ challenge – presenting complex information to a diverse global audience. I also afforded the opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh silver award. I showcase strong client facing skills, building credibility with key stakeholders, and developing solutions to remove barriers to progress. Some of my standout achievements include: during Mechanical Engineering degree, researching and evaluating effectiveness of chirp signals in characterising metal microstructures to identify inefficiencies and propose innovative solutions to enhance accuracy; leading a group project to create briefs on product development, social responsibility and commercial, legal and economic management for 3 fictional companies, utilising Notion and Gantt to create workspace and track progress; utilising MATLAB script to develop a convertible car roof model that provided reliable data to inform decisions on hydraulic / motor design; leading a comprehensive evaluation of lifting lug design for Group Control Unit installation on a ship; and determining ideal size, placement and operational parameters for a wind turbine farm on Orkney islands to maximise output. In 2020, participating in ‘Engineering for People’ challenge hosted by Engineering without Borders, working in a global virtual team to design and present innovative water filtration system for hotels in Lobitos; and in 2021, engaging as Field Worker by Randstad to assist with data collection that informed UK COVID-19 alert levels. I am now looking to leverage my skills, education, and experience to develop my career.
