About Kieran Cooper

Relocating to Newcastle in early 2019, I began crafting my engineering career at Telford Engineering Solutions, as a design draftsman; 3D modelling magnet and dewatering systems for local industry stalwart Port Waratah Coal Services, and modelling and detailing a recycling plant for Central Waste. In mid-2021, wanting to understand what I was drafting, instead of simply detailing mark-ups, I leaned into electrical design drafting and distribution design, taking a keen interest in relevant Australian and Distribution Network Standards as I moved into the Level 3 (Contestable) design space. Since doing so, I have worked through many distribution design projects including large 33kV oil-filled cable replacements at Rosehill, involving difficult navigation in and around existing underground services, and 3D modelling of several chamber substations here in Newcastle. In my final role before joining PCE, I further developed my distribution design capability, completing several residential development stages for Huntlee. Into 2025, as I continue to obtain valuable distribution design experience, I am currently completing my Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering, with a view to obtaining full Level 3 (ASP3) design accreditation. When I'm not pushing himself to be a better designer, I enjoy rock climbing, surfing and playing golf. On the community side, I volunteer for the charitable organisation Healing Path to Wellness, run a Young Adults group through my local church, and am passionate about promoting and engaging in leadership development initiatives.
