About Kieran Doyle

For over twenty years I have helped clients select, register and protect their trademarks. I have litigated trademark cases, copyright cases, licensing cases, false advertising cases and cases in which clients were accused of violating California's Prop 65 and federal statutes governing unsolicited emails and faxes. Most recently I have developed expertise protecting brands in the medical marijauna sector. I have represented publishers (Primedia, Pearson Education and Trans-High Corp.), professional sports entities (MLB and the 30 MLB clubs), restaurants (Serendipity 3), food and beverage manufacturers, as well as fashion companies (Liz Claiborne), footwear companies, radio groups (Greater Media) and hair care companies (Todd Christopher/Vogue/Organix). Since 1998 I have represented the publisher of HIGH TIMES magazine. For over 40 years HIGH TIMES pushed the marijuana reform envelope and provided a platform for a conversation and debate that has led to the legalization of medical marijuana in dozens of states and recreational marijuana in several. With these sea changes have come many opportunities for HIGH TIMES, but also many IP protection challenges both for this client and the emerging marijuana economy ("Cannabusiness"). One of the most interesting parts of my practice has been puzzling through these challenges and creating innovative strategies for protecting the trademarks of those building Cannabusiness brands.
