About Kiersten Vaughan

I am a dedicated, hardworking Director level manager with extensive scientific knowledge in the areas of microbiology, antimicrobial therapies and wound management. I have worked both as a subject matter expert and as a successful leader within Research & Development (R&D), building a department of scientists from a diverse range of disciplines and at various career stages. I was responsible and accountable for the output of R&D’s Shared Services department and have extensive line management experience of both managers and individual contributors. I have led a highly successful Year in Industry placement scheme and provided mentorship for individuals undertaking the Graduate entry rotation scheme. As part of the R&D leadership team, my responsibilities included delivery against business goals, team objective setting, prioritising and allocating resource to meet project requirements, communication of the organisation’s strategic vision and inspiring and motivating the team to high performance by delivery of quality outputs against commitments. As a functional expert I provided technical/scientific input and direction to enable the R&D team to successfully achieve challenging and time critical objectives and goals. This is exemplified by leading new method development responses to changes in regulatory or commercial requirements. I regularly interacted with and influenced other business functions such as Regulatory Affairs, Commercial and Operations to deliver against business commitments. I have maintained a network of relationships external to the business such as specialist test houses and University PhD projects. I have also been part of the employee liaison group for a local University as an industrial reprehensive.
