About Kiki Six

Guided by my passion for human rights and social justice, I take pride in my ability to embody a compassionate, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach to social work practice. I emphasise the importance of utilising culturally sensitive and anti-oppressive methods, rooted in my knowledge of social, cultural, and political structures and their impacts on individuals and communities. Having studied a major in Sociology, I have a critical understanding of a vast range of social theories and a strong ability to analyse relationships and interactions. This is complimented by my minor in Behavioural Studies, which allowed me to gain insight into the psychological underpinnings of human behaviours, how they are influenced by broader social structures, and vice versa. My particular focus on Gender Studies provided me with further knowledge on sociopolitical oppression and marginalisation, highlighting the intersections between key social factors such as gender, sexuality, race, culture, and class. Each of these qualifications required a significant ability to analyse policy, legislation, and declarations. My main areas of interest include violence against women and gender-based violence. I have studied gendered relationships in depth and have a crucial understanding of their complexities in both micro and macro spheres. I particularly enjoy working with young people and take pride in my ability to do so positively and effectively. In addition to key social work skills, values, and ethics, my Masters degree allowed me to further develop my ability to conduct complex risk assessments in collaboration with young people, develop detailed case plans, and enact effective methods of intervention.
