About Kikku Sharma

I am a PhD Scholar at Ahmedabad University, where I conduct research on Leishmania donovani, the parasite that causes visceral leishmaniasis, a neglected tropical disease. Using molecular techniques such as PCR, cloning, and isolation, I aim to understand the parasite's biology and pathogenesis, and to identify potential targets for drug development. In addition to my research, I have also gained teaching experience as a Teaching Associate at Ahmedabad University, supporting the faculty and students in microbiology. I have a strong academic background in botany and microbial biotechnology, having completed my Masters from the University of Gour Banga, Malda, with a high GPA. I am also a recipient of the prestigious CSIR-NET-JRF fellowship, which recognizes my excellence and potential in scientific research. I am passionate about advancing the knowledge and application of molecular parasitology, and contributing to the global health efforts to combat neglected diseases.
