Laboratory Technician at HAWK Biosystems, Bilbao. MSc in Bio-Inspired Innovation from Utrecht University, The Netherlands. BSc in Zoology from University College Cork, Ireland. Extensive practical experience and theoretical background in protein science. My MSc major project involved the heterologous expression and purification of a target protein originally isolated from a food-spoiling fungi. Techniques included: • Gene engineering including CRISPR/Cas9. • Culture optimization of bacteria, yeast and filamentous fungi. • FPLC and gravity assisted purification. • Gel electrophoresis and western blotting. During my industrial research internship at alga.farm Rotterdam, I developed an assay for the extraction and precise quantification of C-phycocyanin - a phycobiliprotein with pharmaceutical applications - from A. platensis biomass. Techniques included: • Microalgal cell culture and optimization. • Developing novel approaches to cell lysis and target protein recovery. • Large bioreactor (1400L) fermentation and harvesting. In my current role as a Laboratory Technician at HAWK Biosystems - a spatial biology company in Bilbao - I assist in daily laboratory operations and R&D. Regularly employed techniques include the culture of cancer cell lines, immunohistochemistry and the execution of our QF-Pro® assay, a patented technology which enables high resolution imaging of functional proteomic events using a combination of FRET (Förster Resonance Energy Transfer) and FLIM (Fluorescence Imaging Lifetime Microscopy).
