Background
About Kim Castro
My mission is to help others and make a difference through my passions for stewardship, environmental sciences, and community engagement. I have a background in animal sciences and experience in the environmental private sector. I have about ten years of experience in non-profits starting with the YMCA of Austin. There I led and instructed various fitness and wellness activities, such as Cardio Caliente, LiveStrong Program, and Swim Lessons. Just short of three years, I worked as a Relationship Specialist at The Livestrong Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides support and navigation services to people affected by cancer. My core competencies included developing and creating relationships with the cancer community, and Livestrong Ambassadors, as well as coordinating and managing the internship program. Master Gardener certification to be completed mid-2024. I am fluent in Spanish and enjoy gardening and volunteering in my spare time.
