About Kim Chatfield

I am an experienced legal and regulatory compliance professional with a strong knowledge of Canadian regulatory compliance regimes applicable to federally regulated banks and trust companies. I have enhanced and matured banks' Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) programs and reporting, driving efficiencies and automating processes through the implementation of a GRC tool, Resolver. In addition to being a lawyer, I act as the bank's subject matter expert in areas including Consumer Protection, Bank Act, CDIC, Foreign Tax reporting, CASL, etc. I am a lifelong learner and obtained my certificate in Regulatory Compliance and Legal Risk Management for Financial Institutions from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2022. I am also passionate about working collaboratively with cross functional teams to execute strategy and support development while identifying and mitigating risk. I strongly believe the best decisions are made with diverse stakeholders at the table and have supported a variety of fast paced agile project implementations during my career. I work closely with the business, while still providing effective challenge, and am skilled in risk management, negotiations, legal research and writing, strategic influencing and providing advice and support to enable success.
