About Kim Christensen
Dr. Kim (she/her) is dedicated to providing affirming, whole-person health care, prioritizing a personalized approach rooted in transparency, empowerment, and education. Her perspective is informed by her own identity and experiences as a creative, larger-bodied queer person living with chronic pain, hypermobility, and late-stage Lyme Disease. In her clinical work, Dr. Kim strives to connect patients to the rhythms, interconnected systems, and healing potential of their bodies through a combination of disciplines, deep listening, and collaboration. Her specialties include LGBTQ+ care, complex and chronic medical conditions, Lyme Disease and tickborne illness, chronic pain management, reproductive and sexual health, and mental health and trauma. Dr. Kim is passionate about providing comprehensive care for LGBTQ+ individuals, including holistic support for queer family planning and gender affirming hormone therapy and surgeries. Dr. Kim has earned a Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN, completed a postgraduate Pediatric Integrative Health Fellowship at University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, and studied in Zhengzhou, China at Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2023, she completed a Doctor of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine degree from the Oregon College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in Portland, OR. In her doctoral research, Dr. Kim focused on LGBTQ+ health equity and Chinese medicine approaches to support gender-affirming hormone therapy for transgender folks, under the mentorship of Dr. Catherine Lumenello, DACM, LAc. Dr. Kim is a health coach through Wellcoaches, and has studied Pranic Healing and Reiki levels I and II. She has completed training in cosmetic acupuncture and microneedling. In 2022, Dr. Kim completed the year-long Tao of Trauma training program with Alaine Duncan, LAc, and is currently studying Craniosacral Therapy with Michael McMahon, LA. Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Kim teaches at the University of Minnesota Earl E. Bakken Center for Spirituality & Healing, speaks on East Asian Medicine and LGBTQ+ health topics, and has contributed to medical publications and integrative medicine training programs.
