About Kim Conley

Hi there, and thanks for stopping by. It means more than you know. At least 100 times more. Not just to me, but to the 100s of children who we are actively trying to help uplift every day. While I have your attention, let me tell you a little bit about what I do and why it’s so important. My name is Kim. I was born in the UK, raised in the Netherlands, and eventually found my home and my heart in sunny South Africa. In 2015 I started an NPO with the sole focus of giving impoverished youth a sense of belonging. Of purpose. Of hope. Amoyo Performing Arts Foundation is an educational & welfare-based organisation based in Imizamo Yethu township in Hout Bay. It’s a platform to help South African youth recognise that they are WORTHY of being ANYTHING they want to be. To GO ANYWHERE they want to go. Our focus is to plant new seeds of INSPIRATION, COURAGE, and KNOWLEDGE and shift mindsets to help youth understand that they are worthy and have permission to grow their dreams. We offer life-changing coaching and performing arts classes to 100s of youth and their families. Our classes are a platform to engage with our youth, to show them we care about them, about the choices they are making, and that we are there to support and help them develop into successful, employable adults. The Amoyo journey aligns skill development with self-respect, respect for others, integrity, emotional intelligence and communication skills needed to survive in the fast-paced professional world outside of their immediate environment of poverty, neglect, and criminal and gang activity. Our dream is to see each Amoyo child continue into adulthood with the essential life skills they need to succeed. It might be a big dream, but it is ours, and we’re holding on to it with all our hearts. As you can imagine, funding has always been scarce and under-resourced, but this has never stopped me from keeping Amoyo alive. And there are different ways that you can help.
