Background

About Kimberly Fruge

As a driven, meticulous Research and Data Analysis Professional, I offer expertise in government processes and political science and 3 years of delivering accurate and insightful data collection, cleaning, analysis, and presentation. In my current role as Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at Stephen F. Austin State University, I research state repression and political institutions while teaching undergraduate students and collaborating with colleagues. As a Data Analysis Consultant for Stanford University’s College Transitioned Collaborative, I increased equitable student outcomes in higher education by analyzing data for the development and testing of evidence-based, scalable tools and practices. I am currently completing my Ph.D. in Political Science at Florida State University, where I also received an M.S. in Political Science. Before that, I received a B.S. in Mathematics with a double major in Political Science from Stephen F. Austin State University. Specifically, my research uses quantitative methods to answer questions about the state's primary repressive apparatus, the military. I have applied machine learning, casual inference, time series and forecasting, logistical regression, data visualization, item-response measurement, to name a few, to answer questions about when and why leaders use (or do not use) repression against their citizenry. I have developed and taught courses in American Politics, Comparative Politics, Money & Power (Political Institutions), Human Rights, and Terrorism. I also was a graduate teaching assistant for both graduate-level and undergraduate Game Theory. I look forward to meeting you! You can reach me at frugekr@gmail.com
