About Kimi Burton

Kimi completed her undergraduate studies majoring in Psychology with a minor in Communication at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS). She also started Masters Courses at Kaplan University and then transferred to Colorado Christian University and her education was brought to a saddened halt (in the state of Colorado she cannot become a licensed psychologist because of her traumatic brain injury [see Colorado Mental Health Practice Act). Kimi then began pursuing her gift of writing and will soon have her first book, I Can't Walk but I Can Roll published. Kimi has taken her acquired disability and become a voice for many who never thought they had one. In college she was determined to see that the premises were remodeled making disability access a priority. Kimi’s unique disability encounter allows her to empathize with and try to understand the life of both the average person and the disabled. Since 2001 when Kimi was in a motor vehicle accident and became labeled "disabled" herself, her eyes have been opened to the prejudices and misunderstandings society has with the disabled. Kimi has a gift of finding a way to move forward even through the toughest challenges. During her youth she was very involved in cheerleading, gymnastics and a multitude of scholastic and social groups. She was involved in an automobile accident that left her body disabled but her spirit clinging to the beauty and wonders of life. Kimi has made it her mission to encourage all who feel they face insurmountable challenges and support them with a positive, life-changing attitude.
