About Kimi Johnson

I am an Instructional Designer (II) with 9+ years experience in the UMN College of Continuing and Professional Studies. Our team develops online and technology enhanced courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level. I work primarily in Canvas and the Google suite as well as in multiple third-party LT applications. In addition to course creation, I also deliver several forms of faculty support/development to ensure the high standards of our online and hybrid course offerings and serve as the liaison and primary designer for CCAPS Graduate Education and primary designer for Online Distance Learning (our collaboration with the College of Liberal Arts). I hold a doctorate in Theatre Historiography with an emphasis on the formation and performance of gender and racial identity online. My dissertation was an interdisciplinary study of performance in massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMOs) with specific emphasis on systems of governance and governmentality within these spaces.
