About Kimi P.

I am the first person in my family to graduate from college. I earned my Associate's Degree in Sociology and Interdisciplinary Studies from Sacramento City College. Later, I obtained a BA in Sociology from California State University - Sacramento, graduating with Suma Cum Laude honors and a 3.9 GPA while studying virtually. Currently, I am embarking on a career in public health as a '23 UCSF CDPH Pathways to Public Health Fellow (Cal-PPH). I believe this opportunity will equip me with the necessary tools to advance my education and career. My plan is to apply for an MPH program, focusing on Social and Behavioral Health & Global Sciences, with a keen interest in sexual & reproductive health. In the immediate future, my career goal is to provide support, information, and education to Black queer youth regarding their sexual health, promoting safe sex practices and preventative healthcare measures. I am committed to building trust within BIPOC communities in our public health systems and addressing the disproportionate impact of chronic diseases on them, ensuring equitable access to care. My long-term career aspiration is to work on tackling racism as a public health issue and addressing the high rates of infant and maternal mortality in the Black community. Networking and establishing lasting connections are essential aspects of my journey. On a personal note, I am a Disability Advocate as an adult with AuDHD- Kimi
