About Kimmo Granqvist

I am an academic with almost thirty years of experience in theoretical and participatory research on linguistics and minority studies. I bear a PhD degree (1997, Stockholm University) in Modern Greek language, and I have a title of docent in Modern Greek language and General Linguistics at the University of Helsinki, and a title of docent in General Linguistics at the University of Oulu. I currently work as a Senior University Lecturer in Romani Language and Culture at the University of Helsinki (since 2012). Prior to that, I had taken care of a Professorship at Södertörn University, Stockholm (2017-2021) and worked as a (senior)researcher and department head at the Research Institute for the Languages of Finland (1998-2011). I am an experienced educator and lecturer. I have also lots of experience in project design and management, budgeting, and HR-related tasks. I am a professional content writer. I design websites using WordPress. I have excellent IT skills comprising, for instance, Windows, Linux, Solaris, Microsoft Office, SPSS, Adobe Creative Cloud, and LaTeX. I have experience from Computational Linguistics through my extensive corpus-based activities (since 1995), and the implementation of a Finnish Romani two-level morphological parser and other tools I have some programming skills using Awk, and Python. I possess extensive language skills, which comprise Finnish (native), Swedish (near native), English, German, Greek, Slovak, and passive Russian, French, and Romanian.
