About Kinsey Baker

Longtime Dealer in Rare Books, Prints, Manuscripts, Paintings, Ephemera, and other printed items. I had an open shop in 3 different locations between 1978 and 2011. My staff & I bought, priced, catalogued & sold used, out-of-print and rare books, prints, paintings, maps, and ephemeral material, selling both to fellow book dealers and private individuals and institutions. We conducted appraisals on single items and complete collections, for insurance, Tax and/or donation purposes, and acted as a purchasing agent for individuals & institutions in a public auction venue, while also consulting on collection development and collection dispersal. I have relocated to the Beaufort, SC area, but intend to stay active in the profession if my services are requested/required, although I consider myself to be Semi-Retired. Elected to the Board of the Friends of the Beaufort Library in the Spring of 2014, I was appointed Co-Vice President and also Co-Chair of the Book Sales Committee. As such, I help promote, organize and set up the Fall Book Sale and the FOL Bookstore, as well as sort incoming books and price all "Rare & Collectible" books. VP activities center around assisting the President in matters and activities for which they are unavailable. Specialties: Childrens & Illustrated Books, 19th & 20th Century Prints & Paintings, Printed Ephemera, Manuscripts, Civil War and other Military History, Natural History, Color Plate Books, Fine Bindings/Presses, and more.
