About Kira Bloomquist

I am a postdoc research fellow. Currently, I hold a conjoint position (physical therapist affiliated "Krop & Kræft" and research) at the Center for Health Research (UCSF), Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet. My main areas of interest relate to exercise and cancer survivorship. I have personal hands-on experience with cancer survivors as a physical therapist, as well as research experience gained while undertaking various research roles since 2003. My specific expertise relates to exercise during chemotherapy and cancer-related lymphedema. The translation of research to practice has been an important driver of my work. Specifically, while dissemination of knowledge gained by my research through publication of academic papers has been important, I have also invested in transforming practice through my volunteer work. In 2017, I took initiative to form Danish Dragon Abreast- the first Danish dragon boat team consisting of breast cancer survivors. Further, as a board member of the Danish Physical Therapy Society for Oncology and Palliation I have been instrumental in creating furthering education courses for PT's working within oncology in Denmark, Currently, my interests relate to the potential for intra-infusion exercise and specifically in those with sarcomas.
