Currently I do everything death certificate related for two funeral homes, and help with filing and troubleshooting Maryland death certificates for 5 others. I also use HMIS, Sameday Check, infoport, and MS office. I talk to families to correct any issues, mistakes, or answer questions. I arrange to get the death certificate signed by doctors. I obtain the vital information from the funeral director and enter everything into EDRS. I proofread the death certificate, then I submit it to Vital Records. If the certificate doesn't file or is rejected for some reason I work to resolve the issue. If changes need to be made after a death certificate is filed I fill out an amendment form or send a doctor a supplemental form to sign and submit it to Vital Records. I order death certificates using the Vitalchek system. I keep an excel spreadsheet with all of the death certificates I need to keep track of and where I am in their process. When the death certificates arrive I document it on my spreadsheet and make sure the family is contacted to pick up the death certificates or that I have the correct mailing address to mail the death certificates. I am very proficient in DC VSIMS and MD EDRS and frequently use my problem solving skills to get death certificates filed. One of my biggest accomplishments in this field is being considered enough of an expert to train others in how to process and file death certificates for Maryland and DC. I have extensive musical experience but I don't play instruments or sing much these days. I majored in Voice at Hofstra University and had professional voice training. I played violin for 10 years, flute for 7 years, guitar for 7 years, piano for 4 years and baritone for 16 weeks. I completed method classes for trumpet, trombone, saxophone, clarinet, cello and percussion at Hofstra University. I took and completed piano fingering and chord classes, 1 semester of piano lessons, 4 years of voice lessons, musical repertoire class to improve vocal performance and repertoire, a fundamentals of education class, a course in preparing a music education curriculum, choir, 1 year of opera theater, one year of vocal jazz, 1 year of guitar ensemble, 4 years of music theory, 4 years of music history and attended/performed in various performances on campus as needed to complete my Bachelors degree which I earned in 2010. I am an attuned Reiki Master through the Hawayo Takata lineage of Usui Reiki. I taught Reiki to 5 students, attuned 4 of them to level 1 Reiki and attuned 1 to level 2 Reiki. I attune and teach Reiki on a case by case basis.
