About Kiran Ravikumar

I’m a Research Scientist at NASA Ames Research Center (via Analytical Mechanics Associates), where I develop and optimize high-fidelity computational tools for fluid dynamics, particularly in launch ascent and aerodynamics. My work focuses on pushing the boundaries of simulation capability through high-performance computing on GPUs, with a passion for scalable algorithms, turbulence physics, and extreme-scale CFD. With a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech, I’ve spent nearly a decade at the intersection of turbulence research and exascale computing—developing multi-physics solvers, optimizing FFT algorithms, and running record-setting simulations on leadership-class supercomputers like Summit and Frontier. I’m passionate about bridging cutting-edge physics with computing innovations to enable breakthrough simulations—from studying intermittent turbulence to advancing wall-modeled LES for complex aircraft geometries. Research interests include- High Performance Computing (HPC)- GPU Programming (CUDA, CUDA Fortran, OpenMP, HIP)- Computational Fluid dynamics - Turbulent flows - Large-Scale Scientific Simulations - Parallel Algorithms & Performance Optimization Previously: I developed scientific libraries at Hewlett Packard Enterprise for AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, contributing to Frontier's CORAL2 readiness. I’ve also presented at APS DFD, SC, and various invited seminars.
