About Kirk Dunbar

Kirk’s background and roots are right here in southern Illinois. He is a 2010 graduate of Woodlawn High School and a 2013 graduate of McKendree University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Prior to his employment at CFB, Kirk worked in sales, customer relations, owned and operated his own business, and managed risk as an independent insurance agent. Kirk’s previous experience in launching and growing a small business from the ground up has allowed him to develop a complete understanding of what is required for a business to thrive as well as all facets of operation, ownership, sales, relations, growth, and success. According to Kirk, he is excited to join the Community First Bank of the Heartland team and contribute to the success of local businesses in our community. He states, “I look forward to building strong relationships with local small business owners to help them achieve their financial objectives. My core goal is to bridge the gap between your business and the capital you need to make it successful.” When he's not working, Kirk stays busy with his family and community. Kirk and his wife, Kourtnie, are raising their five children right here in Mt. Vernon. They refer to themselves as the K family: Kirk, Kourtnie, Kynlie, Karter, Kollin, Kolsyn, and Kayslie. Kirk’s children are all involved in athletics, so they can be found most evenings and weekends in a gymnasium or at the local ball field
