About Kitty Dowry

As an Outdoor Education Officer at the University of Leeds, I engage with students and staff, implementing educational programs at our outdoor centre in the Yorkshire Dales and external facilities. I conduct seminars and practical sessions on diverse outdoor learning topics, including climbing, kayaking, and environmental awareness. I also oversee and manage the university climbing wall, coordinating staff, introducing the NICAS scheme, and establishing partnerships with school programs. In addition to my role at the University of Leeds, I have led expeditions to Malaysia, Borneo, China, and Morocco for over seven years. I foster participant empowerment, independence, and team cohesion while ensuring safety protocols and crisis response. I also integrate environmental awareness and educational elements into the expeditions. Previously, I was a Graduate Outdoor Education Resident at Bryanston School, where I supported the pastoral care of 68 girls within a boarding house and led the Duke of Edinburgh award program. I hold an MA in Outdoor Education from the University of Worcester and a Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Adventure Leadership and Management. I am passionate about outdoor education and leadership and always look for new opportunities to develop my skills and knowledge.
