About Klaske van Norren

I perform research on clinical nutrition and pharmacology for chronically ill patients with emphasis on metabolic and anorexia-induced loss of muscle mass, which is related to morbidity and mortality. The cause is often inflammation related and can originate from adipose tissue, gut and disease specific sources (e.g. tumour). How interaction between the sources of inflammation can enhance the effect and how to interfere in this process with nutrition is not known, but crucial, to be able to interfere. The research in our group within the Division of Human Nutrition aims to develop multi-targeted nutritional and pharmacological intervention strategies to achieve prevention or treatment of muscle loss.
