About Kody Palin

While completing my studies, I worked as an intern student and gained a vast amount of hands-on experience. I worked in Northern British Columbia for two summers doing bridge inspection. The inspection work with girders and cross beams gave me a greater understanding of steel design and helped with load calculations in my studies. During my last two summer internships, I had the opportunity to worked on the Calgary Southwest Ring Road, inspecting MSE bridge walls and Asphalt. This allowed me a better comprehension of soil mechanics based on the soil and grid strips holding back the pre-cast panels. During these four summer internships, I worked independently majority of the time, but I also worked in teams that taught me patience, respect, responsibility and integrity. After graduating from SAIT, my supervisor Adam Davison with Kiewit asked me to come full of work time, and I helped finish the work on the Southwest Ring Road as a Quality Field Inspector. As this work wrapped up, I had the opportunity to work with Ledcor doing some quality turnover at the LNG Canada plant in Kitimat, BC, for two months and then moved as a Project Coordinator at the Alamos Gold Mine in Ontario. As a relatively new engineer tech, this work experience has given me a better understanding of related skills and concepts in the earthworks field. While working at the mine, I learned about drilling and blasting processes, safety procedures, and a feel for estimating and purchasing while learning the estimating software called BuildingConnected.
