Met geïnspireerde literatuur voor een breed publiek, met behulp van geleefde experimenten, en door het geven van natuurvaardigheidscursussen en -workshops, probeert hij anderen te enthousiasmeren voor zowel afgelegen wildernissen, als voor kleine wildheid in de nabijheid van het verstedelijkt leven. Hij pleit voor natuurbescherming die verweven is met zorgvuldige dagelijkse consumptie, en die bijdraagt aan de duurzaamheid van Planeet Aarde. Van Koens hand verschenen o.a. het literaire non-fictie boek ‘Wild Jaar’ (2021) en de verhalenbundel ‘IJsberen met optimisme’ (2022). Hij is co-editor van de professionele essaybundel ‘Rewilding in Nederland’ (2022) en hij heeft meer dan twintig wetenschappelijke artikelen en boekhoofdstukken over mens-natuur relaties gepubliceerd. With inspired literature for a broad audience, by means of embodied experiments, and by offering nature skill courses and workshops, he seeks to enthuse others for both remote wilderness, as for ‘small’ wildness in the vicinity of urban life. He pleas for a form of nature conservation that is carefully interwoven with daily consumption patterns, and which contributes to the sustainability of Planet Earth. Koen is the author of the literary non-fiction book ‘Wild Jaar’ (2021) and a story bundle ‘IJsberen met optimisme’ (2022). He is co-editor of a professional collection of essays ‘Rewilding in Nederland’ (2022) and he published more than twenty scientific articles and book chapters on human-nature relationships. See:
