About Koen Dekeyser
I love tackling the challenges related to food systems and EU foreign policy. For over a decade, I have researched and engaged with policymakers on development in Africa, Europe, and Asia. I have published widely, combining qualitative-quantitative analyses; often focusing on political context merged with data analysis. At ECDPM, I am part of the Sustainable Food Systems and Green Transition team. Here, we use a systems approach to link food security, climate action and policy and organise multi-stakeholder meetings to provide policymakers with the inputs to make better policies. I have (co-) managed projects up to EUR while working with the EU Commission, the UN's FAO, and various European and African Ministries. Paraphrasing Brecht, first we eat, then we can build a more just world. Before ECDPM, I was a research fellow at the DST-NRF Centre of Excellence in Food Security and the Centre for the Study of Governance Innovation, South Africa, following my doctorate in Political Economy. I'm a bit of a R nerd.
