About Kohner Evans

I am a leader dedicated to streamlining systems so that the people we serve can be assisted quicker and effectively. I am focused on assisting vulnerable refugee populations who need a steady hand to support them as they acclimate to their new environment. Challenge is no issue for me; if anything I thrive in settings where obstacles and setbacks are part of the game. I enjoy picking apart problems and identifying the root cause. My ultimate goal is spearhead an international humanitarian program, and being instrumental in proper implementation through leadership and monitoring. My education in International Development and Conflict Management with the University of Maryland has equipped me with practical skills to start, track and finish projects with human betterment in mind. Refugees are one of the most vulnerable populations due to their transient and fragile status, and they require more support in a country they are unfamiliar with. My training in Arabic and Russian have not only provided me with language competency but also cultural and historical understanding. My time with The Independence Line, managed by Loyal Source, The Independence Fund and IRC, has given me practical experience in case management and on the ground experience with refugee individuals and families. Now almost 2 years later with the same contract, I have had the pleasure of seeing the contract start with just 3 people trying to create profiles for needs presented by clients to a fully fledged program with a team of 10 people under me providing phenomenal case management and cutting edge remote services. Off the job, I'm passionate about environmental advocacy and justice. I recently joining the Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake as I believe using faith as a motivator can move people to also advocate for the Earth and all of her inhabitants.
