About Kon Tsiakis

Kon is a partner in the Recovery and Restructuring and Commercial Litigation practice of Dentons, situated in the Melbourne office. Kon has a particular expertise in advising: • Financial Institutions and credit providers on the enforcement of their security and asset recovery strategy, cognisant of the need to maximise a positive outcome for all stakeholders; • Insolvency practitioners on all aspects of external administrations, including asset tracing and recovery, insolvent transactions and public examinations; • Company directors on their statutory and general duties when facing financial difficulties and providing assistance to the Board or Non-Executive Directors with navigating and addressing concerns of all relevant stakeholders; • Clients in relation to International cross-border insolvency issues, gained whilst working in London for a major US firm; and • Companies and directors on regulatory compliance with the Corporations Act and investigations arising from alleged breaches having gained relevant experience as a senior analyst with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). He also regularly advises clients in a range of matters including contractual breaches, tortious duties and equitable remedies and has conducted disputes in the State Supreme Courts, the Federal Court as well as in numerous specialist tribunals. Kon is recognised in the Best Lawyers 2021 guide for his work in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Insolvency & Reorganisation law. He is also listed in the 2020 edition of Doyle’s as a Recommended Insolvency & Restructuring Lawyer.
