Background
About Koos Hogeweg
After my bachelor in journalism I worked as free-lance journalist (as radio-reporter, writing for magazines and newspapers and as photographer). During my study at the School of Performing Arts, I started specializing in creating acts, performances and events for all kind of cultural occasions. This ended up in co-founding and running ImPro; an event-office for the students of the School of Arts to present their own work. Later I performed with 4 colleagues making comedy-theatre (Kloon). In 1994 started The Lunatics. This company developed in 15 years into one of the most important site specific location theatre groups in Europe. They have performed all over the world for thousands of people in the most countries in Europe and some exiting locations in Middle and South-America (Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico); South and North-Africa (Johannesburg, Soweto, Tunis) and Asia (Indonesia, Singapore and South-Korea). Around 2010 I stopped working for and with the group. Some years later the moonlight dimmed definitely. The Lunatics stopped performing and I focused on cultural activities in Antwerp. In my work I always try to find ultimate ways of communicating in an exiting way with a large amount of people of all ranges, ages and stands, rather on specials spots. That’s why the job I stand for is organising and presenting breathtaking cultural events on unexpected places in the middle of any society. This can be by involving in projects of some days, weeks, or years. Specialties: Advising, initiating, preparing and running small and large scale cultural projects worldwide (on locations you never dreamed of); creating a team for any of these cultural project; keeping this team together even if 'all the odds are against us'. From Jan. 2013 till now I am coordinating the education house HETSTEEN in Antwerpen, Belgium in the famous stone castle close to the river Schelde. In the spring of 2018 we moved to an abandoned shipyard at de Droogdokkenweg with a new name: Stormkop (- a sort of highschool of adventure, focusing on art, philosophy, science and sustainability).
