Hello everyone! I'm excited to introduce myself as Kory Brooks, a proud graduate of Temple University College of Public Health and the School of Social Work. I recently completed my MSW through Temple's advanced standing program, specializing in clinical social work.Before attending Temple, I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, allowing me to interact with families, patients, and various healthcare teams to ensure the best possible care. My positive attitude, patience, and welcoming personality have been essential in performing my duties.During my undergraduate studies, I interned at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia as a Social Work Services Coordinator in the emergency department, focusing on children with behavioral health concerns. I was responsible for locating inpatient psychiatric beds and collaborating with insurance providers like Magellan and Keystone First to obtain necessary authorizations for care. Clear communication with my team, the medical staff, and patients' families was key to my work.In my final year of graduate school, I had the opportunity to intern at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in the inpatient palliative medicine department. Here, I provided support to patients facing serious illnesses and their families. My responsibilities included conducting psychosocial assessments, facilitating communication among the healthcare team, and aiding patients in navigating complex healthcare decisions.I am passionate about social work and eager to connect with others who share my enthusiasm.
