Having worked in the wedding industry, I've been able to develop my interpersonal skills in a real world setting for the better part of the last 15 years. Speaking eloquently and knowing how to read crowds are important, but what makes for success in that industry as any other is being able to develop a rapport with couples and other professionals. It's also taught me how to handle extremely high pressure situations with a calm demeanor. We are almost solely responsible for the success or failure of the biggest day in someone's life. Having performed at over weddings I've learned how to not only handle that pressure but excel when it's at its highest. Having now transitioned to a non traditional college student, I've been able to take all of my experiences over the last 15 years and apply to school and soon carry them onto my future profession.
