About Kris Howe

Welcome to my teaching journey! With over twelve years of teaching experience and a background in English Literature, I currently serve as an MYP Year 1 Language & Literature Teacher and Homeroom Advisor at Mentari Intercultural School. Since completing my IB Category 2 training, I have embraced the IB philosophy by designing engaging, inquiry-based units that foster both academic growth and personal development. This year, my students explored novels such as Crash by Jerry Spinelli and Esperanza Rising, alongside developing essential writing skills in expository and argumentative essays using the PEE structure. I independently designed all units and assessments to align with MYP objectives and ATL skills, and also collaborated across disciplines for an interdisciplinary unit (IDU) combining English, I&S, and Design to launch a student-led anti-bullying campaign. As a Homeroom Advisor, I provide holistic support to students—overseeing their academic progress, social development, and participation in school-wide events. I actively contribute to school culture, taking on leadership roles in event planning and coordination. Beyond the classroom, I am proud to have launched and now lead the Leo Club, empowering students through service and leadership opportunities in its inaugural year. I also served as a Personal Project supervisor for Grade 10 students, helping guide them through their independent inquiry process. Passionate about combining creativity, critical thinking, and technology, I am committed to nurturing globally minded learners ready to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
