About Kris Kahn

Kris Kahn, Cybersecurity Leader at Heat and Control in Hayward, CA and CEO of Cybernetix Technologies, is helping security leaders achieve balance in their companies aligning with business needs and industry frameworks, and helping grow their organizations to address the ever changing governance and threat landscape. Kris has more than 20 years as a leader in the security industry, beginning as Sr Firewall Engineer, and more than 10 years in management positions including; Security Architecture Sr Manager, IT Risk and Compliance Sr Manager, IT Governance Sr Manager, Sr Director of InfoSec, VP of Risk and Security Services, Executive Advisor, and Sr Cybersecurity Advisor. Kris developed the Code of Practice Manual for performing Security Assessments at Seagate and conducted hundreds of System, Application and Architecture Assessments using the developed methodology. He also managed the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) IT Compliance program for four years, performed COBIT Maturity Assessments, Penetration Testing, and Enterprise Security Health Checks that utilized a hybrid of COBIT and ISO-27002 which engaged more than 70 people to collectively shape information security for the business. Pursuing his passion for risk management, Kris developed the Framework of Risk Management and Analysis (FoRMA) to aid in the visualization and communication of cyber risks and security controls. He has presented at OWASP, ISACA, ISSA’s Cornerstone of Trust Conference, SecureWorld Conference and Lockheed-Martin to share security management and risk management concepts. Kris has also been a volunteer instructor to provide CISSP, CISA and CISM training to local community chapters, and provided leadership training to the Boy Scouts of America. Today, he serves the IT organization at Heat and Control, and his clients through Cybernetix to empower them to make more informed risk-based decisions to improve their Information Security Programs.
