Background
About Krishna Kumar Kungumaraj
I will be a good fit for the role of Research Associate/Postdoctoral Research Fellow. I have research experience and hands-on experience in the synthesis of nanomaterials, electrochemical sensor development, and instrumentation techniques such as Chromatographic-GC, HPLC, Spectroscopy-FTIR, UV-Vis, Raman, AAS; Thermal analysis-TGA, DSC; Crystallography-Powder XRD; and Microscopy-FESEM and AFM, Dynamic Light scattering and BET surface area analysis. My interest in Analytical Chemistry and Instrumentation began during my post-graduation. I did an M.Sc in Food Chemistry and my project work was to estimate the pesticide residues in food samples using chromatography techniques. After my post-graduation, I worked as a Scientist-Trainee for a year (2011-2012) in the Spectroscopy and Chromatography Division, Agro-Chemical testing lab (International Institute of Biotechnology and Toxicology, Padappai, India. My passion for analytical chemistry and new analytical method development grew during this period. Following my training at IIBAT, I enrolled for a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Madras, India. I began my research career as an Electro-Analytical Chemist, by working on my Ph.D. project entitled “Anodic stripping voltammetric determination of metal ions and development of an amperometric sensor for the determination of biomolecules using curcumin modified electrode”. Apart from Electro-Analytical Techniques, as a part of my Ph.D. work, I had the opportunity to learn several Microscopic, Spectroscopy, and other material/surface characterization techniques. Later on, I joined as a Technical Officer at Vels Institute of Science Technology and Advanced Studies, India in setting up the Central Instrumentation Laboratory facility to support sample analysis for graduate students and researchers. I worked there for three years (2018-2021) and I was involved in the selection and purchase of instruments, installation, and general maintenance, providing hands-on training for masters and graduate students. During my tenure, I have delivered several lectures and conducted workshops. In 2021, I worked as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Science and Technology (DST), a funded project entitled “Electrochemical sensing of sulfamethoxazole antibiotic in water at GO/ZnO Nanocomposites-modified electrode: Optimization and real-time measurement” at SSN College of Engineering, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.I am actively looking for post-doctoral research opportunities in the field of electrochemistry and nanomaterial research.
