About Krishna M. Singh

A teacher and scientist who started his academic career with the Department of Agricultural Economics, at Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, India. Worked extensively on socioeconomic issues related to agricultural sector and have more than 44 years of experience in teaching, research and extension. Worked for World bank sponsored National Agricultural Technology Project (NATP-ATMA) and implemented it in such a manner that Govt. of India later adopted this demand-driven and market-led extension ATMA model for up-scaling extension program in the country. A PhD in Agricultural Economics, having experience of working in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary, international environment in organizations like FAO, The World Bank, ILRI, IFPRI, CYMMIT, ICARDA, ICRISAT, ACIAR, The Crawford Fund, USAID, Govt. of India, and different State Governments. Experience includes developing and integrating academic and development expertise with a focus on alleviating poverty and improving livelihoods. Adequate experience of working in a high conflict and risky region (Afghanistan). Other areas of expertise include market-led extension reforms in developing countries, natural resource economics, Livestock economics, value chains, training and capacity building of resource poor farmers, mentoring of younger people, and providing strategic leadership to R&D partners. Keen eye for communication of research and development results to enhance impact at several levels.
