Background
About Krishnashish Bose
I am a physicist with 12+ years of interdisciplinary research experience spanning atomic force microscopy, in vivo neural imaging, electrophysiology, and the development of novel algorithms and custom software for terabyte-scale neural data processing. In every lab I’ve joined, I’ve led the creation of bespoke microscopes, experimental pipelines, and computational frameworks to address complex biological questions with precision and rigor. My early work focused on high-speed atomic force microscopy, culminating in the highest-resolution DNA/RNA imaging in aqueous solution to date and the first direct visualization of higher-order RNA G-quadruplexes. In neuroscience, I’ve engineered single- and two-photon microscopes, built optoelectronic probes for deep-brain imaging, and integrated GRIN-lens microendoscopy with polytrodes for simultaneous imaging and electrophysiology in freely behaving animals. I work end-to-end, from CRISPR-based genetic manipulation to imaging to custom pipelines for signal extraction and behavioral analysis. I’ve developed software packages that outperform established gold standards in neuronal extraction and spike inference from in vivo calcium imaging. Most recently, I adapted and integrated deep learning models including UNet3D, ResNet3D and DinoV2, for 5D analysis of microglia–neuron interactions, enabling large-scale mapping of pathological glial states at sub-cellular resolution across whole-brain volumes—a first of its kind. I thrive at the interface of biology, computation, and engineering. I’m now seeking senior scientist or leadership roles in neurotechnology, systems neuroscience, or biotech R&D, on projects focused on biology-guided tool development.
