In my current role I lead the recruitment and marketing strategy for a secondary teacher training programme, responsible for the day-to-day management of the recruitment and marketing functions. In this role I have developed my marketing skills within an educational context, successfully developed and implemented strategic plans and projects (including a new brand identity, a new website, new recruitment policies, procedures and service standards). My professional, articulate, and persuasive approach has enabled me to build strong working relationships both internally and externally, raising both the profile of the programme and the importance of marketing. This has resulted in a significant increase in applications to the programme and trainees starting the programme. Ten years’ experience with a market leader in the recruitment industry, starting as Graduate Trainee and rapidly rising to Business Director with business development leadership responsibility. An innovative, entrepreneurial and persuasive approach was critical to my success, as was my ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external customers. As a team leader I was motivational and inspiring – always leading by example. As an individual I was consistently in the top 10 fee-income billers. Five years running my own clicks and bricks retail business. This was an exciting and challenging time in my life that required a tenacious and entrepreneurial approach, utilising my commercial, marketing, administrative and communication skills. As the face of the business, my naturally warm and open personality enabled me to build a loyal client base and create a retail destination of choice in the local community.
