Music educator, pianist, creative collaborator, and innovator. General music teacher for grades PreK through 8, choral director for grades 5 through 8, piano accompanist, private piano and vocal coach, certified yoga teacher, and arts education leader for public school arts teachers. Developed a sequential curriculum for grades PreK through 8 with a focus on multicultural music, collaboration, community building, social justice, and diverse, quality, and age-appropriate repertoire, inspired by methodologies and approaches such as Orff Schulwerk, Kodaly, and Dalcroze. Uses cross-curricular approaches to teaching such as integrating mindfulness, meditation, and yoga techniques as well as collaborating with teachers across other subjects to deliver instruction that caters to the whole child. Diverse portfolio with experience in building music programs in inner-city schools, collaborating with non-profit organizations to bring rich arts programs to public schools in NYC, organizing and leading community events and fundraisers, adjudicating for the Manhattan Borough Arts Festival, facilitating professional development workshops in the arts, and serving as a director and piano accompanist for the NYCDOE audition-based Citywide Chorus. Career Objective: To advance the art of music and awaken the artist in every child using holistic approaches which cater to the individual child while enriching and building communities through music.
